Deep vein thrombosis is a medical condition characterized by the development of blood clots in the deep veins, usually in the deep veins of the legs. It has been estimated that about 80% of deep vein thrombosis during and after pregnancy occurs in the left leg. If left untreated, deep vein thrombosis can break off, travel throughout the blood system. It will reach to the lungs leading to a serious and sometimes even a life-threatening medical condition known as pulmonary embolism. The good news is that both deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism are preventable and treatable medical conditions. Women who have an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis during and after pregnancy should be closely monitored. Deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, both are commonly medically known as venous thromboembolism. It affects about one pregnant woman among every 1,000 pregnant women. However, venous thromboembolism affects 5 to 10 % more pregnant women compared to non – pregnant women at the same age. Venous thromboembolism is about 20 % more common among women after pregnancy as well. About 8 weeks after childbirth the risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism gets back to normal levels. Just like it was before conceiving and giving birth. Why is deep vein thrombosis more common during and after pregnancy?
Normally, during pregnancy, the levels of blood clotting proteins increase. This is as the human body increases the ability to clot the blood, necessary during childbirth in order to prevent too much bleeding. In the same time, the levels of anti-clotting proteins decrease. Other factors which have a great impact on the development of deep vein thrombosis during and after pregnancy include enlarged uterus. It increases the pressure on the pelvic veins affecting this way the normal blood return from the lower part of the body to the heart. Not every pregnant women or woman who recently gave birth will develop deep vein thrombosis. Certain factors increase the risk of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism during pregnancy and in the first few weeks after delivery. Risk factors include: • Being older than 35 years old, • Being overweight and especially obese, • Having a personal or family history of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, • Having hypertension, • Having various vascular diseases, • Having inflammatory bowel disease, • Developing preeclampsia during pregnancy, • Having severe varicose veins, • Being on bed rest due to having a high - risk pregnancy, • Taking birth control pills, • Giving birth by Cesarean delivery (C-section), • Smoking, etc. Signs and symptoms of deep vein thrombosis Common signs and symptoms of deep vein thrombosis include: • Pain and a feeling of tenderness affecting just one leg, usually the left leg, • Tenderness and a warm sensation in the calf and sometimes even in the thigh, • Swelling of the affected leg which can be mild, moderate and even severe, etc. In cases when the blood clot from the lower extremities breaks off and travels through the circulatory system reaching the lungs, the following signs and symptoms are possible: • Sudden chest pain which can be mild, moderate or severe, • Sudden and unexplained shortness of breath, • Rapid heartbeat, • Increased breathing rate, • Coughing up blood, etc. How to prevent deep vein thrombosis during and after pregnancy? If you previously had problems with deep vein thrombosis you should take action. If a close relative had problems with deep vein thrombosis you should let your healthcare practitioner know. This is so that he/she can take extra precautions and closely monitor your pregnancy during the entire nine months. This includes your health condition in the first 8 weeks after childbirth. If you notice any of the above – mentioned signs and symptoms during pregnancy or in the first weeks after childbirth you should seek immediate medical help. In cases when a blood clot is diagnosed, you will be treated with heparin. This is a blood thinning medication during pregnancy and in the first two months following childbirth in order to prevent further clotting of the blood. However, once labor begins your healthcare provider will need to change your medications in order for you not to excessively bleed during childbirth. As mentioned, blood clots during and after pregnancy can be successfully prevented. Here are some tips on how to prevent deep vein thrombosis while carrying a child: • Exercise regularly as long as it is safe for you to exercise and you are not having a high – risk pregnancy, • Stretch constantly every 2 to 3 hours, • Walk a lot, • If you have an increased risk for deep vein thrombosis wear supportive socks and hose which will prevent deep vein thrombosis from developing, • Use heparin as recommended by your doctor regularly if needed, etc.

There are so many different types of crowns, I lost count! In today’s modern times, we see a lot of people who are getting crowns prefer E-Max crowns. This is due to the fact that they have a long lasting, aesthetic qualities. Another good reason to choose E- Max crowns are because they have a high attractive appearance and they always compliment the other teeth. If you have stained, damaged or even poop quality teeth, E-Max crowns are a good option. What a E-Max Crown may be? Crowns are divided into different groups. E-Max crowns are only one of the many types of all-ceramic crowns. All-ceramic crowns have a translucent color combined with extra durability and strength. E-Max crowns are made from a very top grade material. The material used is called lithium disilicate ceramic. This material is harvested for a few qualities which are durability, toughness and its opaque qualities. These qualities make this type of crown a very highly sort after and praised crown. E-Max crowns are considered to be a great breakthrough in the dental crown technology. There is another great glass ceramic crown that you can get that is also highly enduring, but, a great thing about this crown is that it has a delicate appearance. E-Max Crown Advantages E-Max crowns are considered to be one of the best to blend in with your natural teeth. Due to its transparent color and lifelike shape, it makes it very hard to be noticed. E-Max crowns do not need any metal alloy base. So, you do not need to worry that you will have a grey line at or around you gum lines. E-Max crowns are very solid; they will not be likely to fracture or crack like other types of crowns. Zirconia crowns are very good but E-Max crowns are considered to be even better when it comes to chipping, as they do not chip. E-Max Crown Disadvantages There is basically only one disadvantage of E-Max crowns and that is the cost of them. E-Max crowns are a premium crown; this implies that they can be fitted without needing to make any preparation. This is another reason that it may also be more expensive than other crowns. E-Max crowns are not suitable for all people. To see if you are suitable for E-Max crowns, it is best to check with your dentist. Fitting an E-Max Crown I cannot say that there is no preparation, because there might be depending on the state of your teeth and the extended work that will be needed. However, in the majority of cases there is basically no tooth preparation. The only preparation will be to examination your tooth that needs to get the crown. Your tooth will be cleaned and then shaped with a small drill called a burr or known as a burr. Your dentist does that so that the tooth will be in a better condition and it will be ready for the crown fitting. There will not be a lot of tooth removed with the drill, but it all depends on the amount of damage your tooth has. If your tooth is very badly stained, there will be a lot more tooth removed. If you have very small teeth your dentist will probably not remove any, or as little as possible. After your dentist is done preparing, he or she will then need to make a mould of your teeth. Your dentist will make a mould with dental putty. The dentist will send the mould of your teeth to a dental lab where they will then make the E-Max crowns. You could get a temporary crown that you will need to wear for about 2 to 3 weeks until your E-Max crown or crowns are ready. Once your E-Max crown or crowns are ready, you will need to go back to the dentist for him or her to fit the crown or crowns. Once the crown or crowns are fitted, your dentist will check the shade of the crown or crowns to make sure that it is the shade it needs to be. The aim of that is to get the crowns as close to a normal, natural tooth color. When all that is done and finished, a final polish and clean will be done. About infertility science Stress is capable of preventing women from ovulating completely. This is because of the balance that is very delicate between their reproductive system, hypothalamus, and pituitary glands. Thus, it can be the reason that contributes to infertility in women. Stress also can create some spasms within both the woman’s uterus and fallopian tubes, which may cause interference with implantation and movement of the egg that is fertilized. Among men, it’s possible for stress to alter their sperm motility, counts, and also be the cause of impotence. With infertility acupuncture treatment, doctors may be able to counter the Cortisol and stress effect and release some endorphins into the brain. Most of the time, the main reason why women are infertile is due to a disorder in their ovulation. It’s when releasing of an egg that is mature out of their ovaries are prevented. This can be due to an imbalance of the hormones. If there is not sufficient progesterone, it may be impossible for a fetus to attach to their uterus. Hormones levels that are high in pro-lactin, which stimulate the production of milk in the breasts, may also be the reason, preventing ovulation. Imbalances within the reproductive hormones with men may also affect their functioning negatively. This includes their sperm production and motility. Fertility drugs which stimulate ovulation for women through regulating their pituitary and hypothalamus glands, thus, controlling their reproductive hormones, won’t work so well for men. Commonly, fertility drugs prescribed to women might produce an increase of between twenty and sixty percent of their pregnancy rate. Although, this may include common side effects, like nausea, weight gain, fluid retention, bloating, and abdominal tenderness. Certain studies have also shown that it can be a cause of breast cancer. You may wish to investigate the use of this treatment if you have recently noticed the first signs of aging and would prefer to delay this process! One common fear amongst people considering this treatment for the very first time is that they will not be able to express emotions. They also fear they will end up with a face that is completely frozen. An experienced doctor will make sure this doesn’t happen and most prefer to use only minimal amounts of Botox to achieve the desired results. By carefully injecting it into just the right locations, a good cosmetic doctor can make sure that the correct facial muscles are relaxed. However, these facial muscles won’t be paralyzed and you should still be able to show emotion. You will look as if you’ve had a particularly good vacation and are well rested. Getting rid of frown lines can also make you look less stressed. Botox is administered using very fine needles so any discomfort should be minor. Afterward, you may see some slight reddening around the injection sites but this should soon disappear. It can take a week or so for the full effects of Botox to materialize. Not Just for the Face In addition to treating fine lines, Botox can be very successful in treating chronic headaches and migraines. Relaxing the muscles around the temples can provide a good solution for this often very debilitating problem. Treatment has been approved for this purpose since 2010. Botox is also good for people who sweat excessively. Its treatment has been approved for this purpose since 2004, so these treatments are tried and tested. Dermal Fillers and When to Use Them
Dermal fillers can be an excellent way to treat deep-seated lines. Thus, creating a more youthful appearance to your facial features and restoring the plumpness associated with youth. These fillers contain a substance called hyaluronic acid. This is a substance that is naturally produced by the body but production slows down with age. Hyaluronic acid helps to retain moisture within the skin, creating that plump youthful appearance that is so desirable. Dermal fillers replace lost volume and the results are just about immediate. Treatment is given through injections and can last several months or more but it isn’t permanent. You might wish to consider dermal fillers if you have lines from your nose to your mouth or from your mouth to your chin. They can also be used in conjunction with Botox to treat frown lines and dermal fillers can help add definition to your cheekbones and to your lips. If the veins in your hands have begun to look quite prominent, dermal fillers might be suitable to help reduce this appearance. How Do I Know Which Treatments Will Work Best for Me? When you visit your physician to find out about these kinds of treatments they will be able to carefully examine your skin. They will talk to you about which lines you’d particularly like to see diminished. The treatments prescribed will depend on your age and your aims, but may include a combination of dermal fillers and Botox. The idea will be to use as little product as possible to achieve maximum effect while still creating an appearance that looks very natural. Your physician can also talk to you about possible side effects of treatment. They can advise you on how long the effects will last before it needs to be topped up. One thing to make sure of before you have this treatment is that it will be carried out by a physician fully qualified and experienced in using these products. |
